Tampa, FL: On January 19 and 20, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has planned to celebrate Penguin Awareness Day at Penguin Point. Park guests will have Up-Close encounters with African penguins in the park’s colony during Penguin Insider Tour.
Visitors will also receive a 10% discount on Penguin merchandise to celebrate the arrival of three newcomers. The chicks hatched at the park on December 28, 30 and January 10 respectively.
All three chicks are currently under the care of adult penguins and are frequently monitored by veterinarians and keepers of Busch Gardens. At this stage of young birds’ development, constant weight gain is essential for proper growth. Guests can see all this action of care very closely in penguin habitat.
In addition to the three newest arrivals, the group of four newborns in the fall are growing rapidly and flourishing during the park’s most successful hatchling season. The older chicks are frequently found swimming and splashing at Penguin Point. During the Penguin Awareness Day, visitors are invited to meet one of these chicks on January 19th and 20th. Visiting hours will be posted daily at the Animal Care Center.
Penguin Awareness Day is observed on January 20th of each year to raise awareness of penguin populations on threats, including environmental issues such as climate change and habitat loss. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is home to African penguins, a species of warm-weather penguin endangered in the wild.
