Devon , UK: A tiny and extremely beautiful Palomino Foal was born at Woodlands Family Theme Park near Dartmouth in the most public of ways on Friday 8th April.
Although ponies like most animals tend to give birth to their newborns in the night or early hours of the morning, Tinker the Shetland Pony decided to make the birth a public affair when she gave birth in the middle of the day in front of a big crowd of excited customers at the Zoo-Farm. The crowd who gathered very quickly witnessed the little foal’s first steps who stumbled a fair few times, but he quickly got the hang of it. His Dad Freddie the Miniature Shetland was close by watching everything unfold and the new foal is most definitely the spitting image of his dad who is also palomino in colour.
Head keeper of the Zoo-Farm Michaela said “I was extremely surprised by the time of the birth, we’ve never had a foal born in the middle of the day but I am very happy with how the little foal and mum are doing, he gave the crowd of visitors an amazing experience on their day out at Woodlands”.
Since the little foal has been born Tinker has been close by and been very protective over her little one. The 60cm foal has yet to be named as the keepers are thinking of something extra special for this little one who gave everyone such a surprise with his public arrival. Visitors to Woodlands can now see the little foal at the zoo-farm who is already proving very popular and don’t forget, save some pennies and book online to receive up to 20% off.
