British Columbia, Canada: At WhiteWater, we have the privilege of working with the world’s best parks thanks to our proven track record of turning inspiring ideas into reality. Our designers, engineers, and project managers collaborate closely with parks to translate their visions into amazing award-winning attractions. Again, this year, our rides have helped parks around the world to drive their gates and three in particular have received special recognition at the Golden Ticket Awards by taking the top three places in the Best New Ride (Water Park) category.
Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards are voted for by industry peers and showcase the best in our industry as these three rides so clearly demonstrate:
MASSIV at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island
German for the word ‘MASSIV’, at a height of 81-feet and 6 ¾-inches tall, MASSIV truly lives up to its name as the world’s largest uphill water coaster and the latest waterslide in the Schlitterbahn family of water rides.
The MASSIV experience starts with a thrilling 86-degree mega drop, followed by another about halfway through the ride. The spine-tingling fun is maintained throughout the journey with a variety of hills and valleys, which finishes with an exhilarating triple down.
Our innovation isn’t just about the ride, we also work to make each ride easier and more affordable to operate than our last. MASSIV is the first installation of WhiteWater’s Smart Blast system, VFD, by using this power-saving technology MASSIV has significantly reduced its operating costs.
Blackbeard’s Revenge at Carowinds
The latest addition to Carowinds’ expanded water park, Carolina Harbor, Blackbeard’s Revenge is an adrenaline-charged six-slide complex segmented into three attractions standing at almost six-stories tall.
Comprised of three drop capsule slides, Pirate’s Plank drops guests down a nearly vertical drop, while Cannonball Drop features two tube slides shooting guests down large drop finales, and lastly, Captain’s Curse, an enclosed slide containing four intense 360-degree turns; we think Blackbeard would approve.
Tropical Plunge at Kings Island’s waterpark Soak City
At 65-feet tall, this six-slide complex, features three AquaLaunch chambers that drops guests into a free fall leading to a series of flat loops and S-curves. The guest experience is enhanced by changes in lighting from dark enclosed sections with bursts of colour from our Aqualucents, to traveling through light and shade in our translucent tubes. Tropical Plunge also showcases a twisting and spiraling enclosed slide with four 360-degree loops across 449-feet of slide and two 337-feet long tube slides that send guests through a series of drops and turns.
WhiteWater sends its congratulations to the three winners and everyone who worked so tirelessly on these projects. A team effort between WhiteWater and our partner parks, we are proud of not only the final product, our slides, but of the relationships and innovations we have made.
