Middlebury, Connecticut: On April 23, Quassy Amusement & Waterpark entered in its 108th season. Park’s summer season started with successful event like National Roller Coaster Day, several other thrilling events are also lineup for visitors. In this season, the family-owned property also introduced a new thrill ride, Reverse Time and Slide City, a new waterslide complex.
Reverse Time, themed as a giant clock, accommodates 24 riders seated in a circular configuration facing outward. As the ride starts to spin it is lifted into the air with the supporting turntable rotating in the opposite direction. Guests will dip and dive as the ride reaches a maximum speed of 20 revolutions per minute. Mid-cycle, the ride will change direction adding to the exciting experience. Quassy worked with SBF/VISA Group, the Italian manufacturer, in devising the color scheme for the attraction with the park’s artist creating a logo for the new ride. Rides 4U, Somerville, N.J., represents SBF/VISA in the United States.
The Slide City project consist of five slides adjacent to the Saturation Station interactive modular water play structure Two serpentine slides called KIDZ Twisters™, a two-person ProRacer , KIDZ Bowl 14 and a KIDZ MiniRiver™ will make up the complex. Four of the slides will end in shallow troughs while the bowl unit will gently send riders along the wall of a circular shaped landing prior to exiting. “We really saw the need for more waterpark attractions geared toward youngsters. We introduced an interactive splash pad a couple of years ago and Slide City will greatly enhance the experience for younger guests ” said Quassy President Eric Anderson.
With new rides and attractions, Quassy Amusement & Waterpark also has many events schedule for this season, starting with ‘National Roller Coaster Day.’ Coaster enthusiasts were present on August 17, for their rides on park’s award-winning Wooden Warrior roller coaster. Since opening in the spring of 2011, Wooden Warrior has been rated among the top 50 wood coasters in the world, according to trade publications and polls among theme park and roller coaster enthusiasts. The Purpose on the event was to highlight and honor roller coasters and the most popular rides at amusement and theme parks.
“Quassy Amusement & Waterpark had a full celebration for the first time this year. Activities included exclusive ride time for our season pass holders; enter for a chance to win prizes at a special booth; prize patrol for those wearing Wooden Warrior t-shirts.
