Orlando, FL: SeaWorld veterinary team and external experts were constantly monitoring Unna health for several months. The 18-year-old female orca was suffering from a resistant strain of a fungus called Candida.

SeaWorld medical team had created a special treatment plan for Unna by consulting leading medical experts from across the country.

Unna received 24/7 care and responded very positively to the treatment, yet her condition remained critical.
Wild cetaceans are vulnerable to Candida, and fungal infections. A necropsy will be performed to establish the actual reason for her death.

Seaworld paid tribute to Unna by cancelling all the killer whale shows on Monday, December 21.
