CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA: Roller Coaster Race announced that registration is now open for its original-concept race that is coming to Six Flags Over Texas, located between Dallas and Fort Worth, on Sunday, September 20. The novel Roller Coaster Race promotes fitness and entertainment for the entire family by holding USATF-sanctioned running events for all skill levels and ages.
Contestants can register for either the 10K race or the 5K run/walk, which start at 7:30 am before the park’s official opening. Event registration fee includes park admission (registration discount offered to season pass holders), free parking, event shirt, finisher medal, and post-race refreshments. The race course, which loops around and under some of the park’s famous roller coasters, is flat and open giving runners a chance to achieve their personal best time. Post race, all participants, can enjoy the park for free and encounter the much-anticipated newly opened ride, JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis.
Additionally, roller coaster enthusiasts and runners alike can sign up for the optional Roller Coaster Ride for a separate fee. Participants who register for the Roller Coaster Ride earn a medal by racking up cumulative “5K ride distance” on Six Flag’s roller coasters. “We’re thrilled to bring the Roller Coaster Ride to Six Flags Over Texas, the original Six Flags park, and our largest urban destination to date,” says Adam Slate, Roller Coaster Race Director.
Roller Coaster Race supports the following charities through its fundraising program: Bryan’s House, SYTA Running for Youth, and the National Roller Coaster Museum & Archives. Additionally, runners and riders may make donations during event registration or by visiting the Charities page on the Roller Coaster Race web site. Bryan’s House, located in Dallas, serves children with medical or developmental needs and their families by providing specialized child care, respite care and social services.
“We are excited to host the Roller Coaster Race and Roller Coaster Ride to benefit a great local non-profit organization,” states Sharon Parker, Six Flags Over Texas Communications Manager. “Six Flags Over Texas is all about creating fun and thrilling memories for families and friends and this unique event is no exception. We look forward to seeing the participants come out to run, ride, and laugh at our park this fall.”
