Yorkville,USA: Raging Waves, Illinois’ largest waterpark, announced today it is bringing the award-winning, ProSlide TornadoWAVE to the water park for the 2016 season. Raging Waves will be one of just three waterparks in the United States to have the popular new ride. Keeping with its Australian theme, Raging Waves has named it “Wonambi” after a pre-historic constrictor snake native to Australia that literally took the breath away from its prey. The jaw dropping, new ride does the same thing sending a four-person raft into high speed, near-vertical, zero gravity moments where riders experience an unparalleled feeling of weightlessness.
“Wonambi truly does take your breath away and it is one of the most dynamic and thrilling rides that a waterpark has to offer,” said Randy Witt, Raging Waves co-owner. “When it comes to offering thrills, Raging Waves leads the way in the Midwest.”
Located 45 minutes southwest of Chicago, Raging Waves is the only waterpark in the Midwest that has the TornadoWAVE. There are only 17 waterparks in the world that have the ride. It debuted in 2014 and has won numerous industry awards including “best new ride in 2015” and “best European water slide” in 2014. It was also featured on the Travel Channel’s series “Xtreme Waterparks.”
Raging Waves, a 45-acre, family owned waterpark, opened in 2008. Wonambi is the largest addition to the park since it opened.
“Raging Waves is all about family and we love that families can enjoy the adrenaline rush of Wonambi together in the large rafts,” said Dawn Witt, Raging Waves co- owner. “We offer families a safe, clean and affordable waterpark experience with a lot of thrills.”
“Wonambi” debuts at Raging Waves on Memorial Day weekend, May 28, 2016.
Raging Waves park was named “Best of the Midwest 2010 and 2011” by Midwest Living magazine. USA Today rated it “the top Illinois Summer Destination” in 2009. Raging Waves has 20 water slides, a wave pool, multiple kiddie areas, private cabanas, and a quarter of a mile long lazy river. It attracts more than 300,000 visitors a year.
