 Preparations underway for Winter Efteling

Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands: Efteling theme park in the South of Holland is preparing for its annual winter experience. Winter Efteling is one of its most popular periods for visitors.

Winter Efteling will open from 14th November 2016 and run until 31st January 2017. The park and accommodation is open 365 days a year.

Visitors can expect a variety of live entertainment and seasonal activities such as cross country skiing, ice skating and a real snow slide. Winter Efteling will feature thousands of lights, bonfires, real snow and music.

Roller coasters and rides will remain open all year, subject to weather conditions. The stunt filled Raveleijn park show will also continue throughout the winter season. Aquanura, Europe’s largest water show, is particularly popular during winter as the fire and lights are emphasised during the darker evenings.

Traditional Dutch food such as pancakes and syrup waffles can be found around the park. There are also traditional food stalls serving smoked sausage and potatoes on a stick. The restaurants will remain open for visitors after the park has closed.

The festive Dutch liqueur, Schrobbèler, is available in the IJspaleis, as well as mulled wine and hot chocolate.

Visitors can also enjoy Winter Efteling’s must-see illusions displayed on three attractions, with 3D video mapping.*

There are two accommodation options available. Visitors can stay in the Efteling Hotel, with a choice of comfort (basic) rooms, or themed fairytale rooms. Hotel stays include early entry park tickets and buffet breakfast. Those staying in the nearby Bosrijk holiday village can choose from lakeside, woodland or village houses, as well as apartments. Early entry park tickets are also included. Both accommodation options are within walking distance to Efteling.

Prices start from £468 for a 2 night stay for 2 adults and 2 children at the Efteling Hotel, with breakfast and 3 day early entry park tickets. A woodland house in Bosrijk costs from £577 for a 2 night stay for up to 6 people, including 3 day early entry park tickets.

British Airways Holidays are delighted to partner with Efteling and offer a package including flights and accommodation with breakfast and unlimited theme park entry. Packages are also available with DFDS Seaways, Stena Line and P&O.

*The Winter Efteling illusions were created with the help of 3D video mapping: an extra layer is projected onto the buildings’ walls, creating an optical illusion between 2D and 3D. This illusion between projection and reality changes the appearance of the building in a matter of seconds. The buildings can appear to move or even collapse.
