Rust, Germany : After having a successful 2015 that saw more than 5.5 million visitors, the largest theme park in Germany is paving the way for further expansion. In particular, the already approved ʻWasser-Erlebnis-Resortʼ – which includes a water park and a new hotel – and investments in new attractions and infrastructure projects are currently in the works. To meet these great challenges, Europa-Park has appointed Michael and Thomas Mack to join the Board of Directors.

Their appointment will ensure continuity in the company’s corporate policy. “In doing so, we are ensuring that the Mack family’s more than 235-year-old business will continue developing successfully. Based on that solid foundation, we carry on fulfilling our core business − excite our visitors every day,” Roland and Jürgen Mack said in a joint statement. As members of the Mack family’s eighth generation, Michael and Thomas Mack have already been actively involved in managing Europa-Park for many years. Michael Mack is responsible for construction management, park operations, marketing, the in-house design department Mack Solutions – where he worked on projects such as ARTHUR – In the Minomoys Kingdom – and MackMedia, which received much acclaim last year for their specially produced 3D films.

Thomas Mack leads the entertainment department, the theme park and hotel food services, and the logistics department. Projects such as the park’s own 4* Superior Hotel Bell Rock, the 2* Michelin restaurant ʻAmmolite – The Lighthouse Restaurantʼ, and Europa-Park’s first own musical ʻSpook Me!ʼ were all completed under his leadership. Furthermore, the graduate economist Klaus Hauer, who has been heading the finance and controlling department at Europa-Park for many years, has been given additional responsibilities and is now in charge of procurement. Besides Europa-Park and the hotels, the group also includes the Waldkirch-based parent company Mack Rides, a globally sought-after manufacturer of theme park rides. More than 3,700 employees are working in these companies at various locations. Season 2016 Europa-Park will be open throughout the 2016 Summer season from 19th March to 6th November from 9am to 6pm daily (longer opening hours during peak season).
