West Mifflin, Pennsylvania: Kennywood Park visitors can enjoy reborn Noah’s Ark attraction when the park opens for its 2016 season in May . The guests will once again walk through the mouth of a large, blue whale to enter Noah’s Ark. Nick Paradise, Director of Public Relations & Social Media of Kennywood Park shared the expansion plan details with AmusementParks News.
” We have been hard at work all offseason on an extensive restoration of our Noah’s Ark walkthrough attraction. Noah’s Ark is an iconic part of Kennywood and the amusement industry as a whole, as this themed funhouse was once commonplace. Now, Kennywood has the only remaining Noah’s Ark in operation worldwide, celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2016″ said Mr. Paradise.
This classic attraction was erected in 1936, and renovated twice first time 1960s and then in 1996. Kennywood workers are working hard to bring back the traditional look of this ride added Mr. Paradise ” To mark that anniversary, we are making significant changes, return the ark to the classic, funhouse feel generations of Kennywood visitors experienced before the ride was modified in 1996 to be more “high-tech”. We have listened to our guests and gone ‘old-school’ with Noah’s Ark to restore that more traditional feel, including rebuilding the large, blue whale entrance that was beloved for decades before being removed in 1996.”
