Destin, Florida: Big Kahuna’s Water and Adventure Park is primarily a water park with over forty water attractions. Opened in 1986, this place also features several thrill ride attractions and a miniature golf course.
Spread over 22 acres of land, the park has a good mix of attractions for the whole family, “We are the largest water park on the emerald coast. Our ride selection is well balanced and provides plenty to do for the whole family. We are also a great alternative to the jelly fish, sea grass and everything else they encounter at the beach” said General Manager Bob Cordier.
Big Kahuna’s has slides, pools, and attractions including 4 kids areas and great slides that the whole family can ride together. For slides, it has the Kowabunga Racer, which is a great ride for the family. The Honolulu Half Pipe is a continuous flow surf machine where guests can test their skills before hitting the real waves. The Jumanji is an enclosed speed slide that drops over 40. The Maui Pipeline is a three lane open speed slide where the lanes crisscross over each other. The Tiki River Run is an inner tube ride.
The four kid’s areas feature a variety of activities like smaller slides for the younger children, ships and submarines to climb on and through, frogs and turtles to climb on and slide through and much more. If your goal is relaxation, then the park also has two lazy rivers and an activity pool that offer plenty of room to spread out. But the most popular attraction in the park is Kowabunga Racer a four lane Proslide Kraken Racer.
Any day is a great day to visit Big Kahuna’s between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The slowest days are Mondays and Thursdays. Since this is a tourist and a local destination, they have two peak days – Wednesdays and Saturdays.
